Windows commands

I have seen similar shots before, but not so nicely combining the three major shortcuts in one photograph. First seen here.

To jog or not to jog

A fascinating project by French photographer Sacha Goldberger: he set up an outdoor photo studio at Bois de Boulogne, a park in Paris, and asked joggers if they would take a sprint and then pose for a photo - and to come back into his professional studio in their finest clothes exactly one week later. Using the same lighting, he asked them to pose the same way they had before, resulting in an amazing "before and after" collection. First seen here.

Lens chess set

An awesome combination of two of my hobbies - photography and chess. This chess set is constructed from real Canon and Nikon camera lenses. First seen here.

Loading

A simple coincidence, but making it a fitting shot. And it made me smile. First seen here.

Art Yacht

So what does the billionaire do who already spent a few million on a yacht? Have Jeff Koons paint it of course - no doubt at an exorbitant price. This yacht is the property of Greek Cyprian billionaire and modern art collector Dakis Joannou. First seen here.

Salome

Another classical music album cover howler, dating back to the vinyl era. Salome is one of my favourite opera's, but this cover would make me think twice about buying this version, in spite of its impressive cast. First seen on a thread in the Talk Classical forum.

Norway - we will never forget

Words are superfluous. Image sourced from here.

Ladybird witch

Even without the magical connection, this is such a sweet shot. First seen here.

Catruck

Most. Ugly. Truck. Ever. No contest. Even if you love cats (I am a dogs person), this is beyond ridiculous. First seen here.

Rupert Murdoch

Sometimes accidental circumstances upon making a photograph or a screenshot from a TV report can be stunningly appropriate - like the devil's horns created for Rupert Murdoch. First seen here.

Crucifix shoes

The special mixed nuts category of off-beat shoe designers strikes again. Remember the Godley and Creme lyrics from An Englishman in New York? "Devoted collectors of paraphernalia out walking the rock, battle and bitch for the ultimate kitsch of a crucifix clock; two miniature Romans, running on rails, appear every hour and bang in the nails. I've got to have it, Christ, I gotta be the first on our block". Well, here is a shoe equivalent. First seen here.

Avada kedavra

Harry Potter mania ia at its zenith right now - sometimes, I feel I am the only person on this planet who has not read the books or watched the movies. This spin-off is very much worthwhile though: classic rock album covers recreated in HP style. Here we have the Bowie classic Aladdin Sane. First seen here.

Eye make-up from another dimension

Using eyelids as canvas and make up as medium - and what striking results does Canadian makeup artist Katie Alves obtain this way! First seen here.

Tour de France

One of the funniest news shots of this year's Tour de France, with German fan Didi "El Diablo" Senft (left) jumping as the riders rush past him. A more serious take on the Tour is posted today in Art for Art's Sake. First seen here.

Pencil shaving portraits

I have seen artists make portraits of the weirdest material, but this is the first one that uses pencil shavings. And to amazing effect. The artist is Kyle Bean from the UK. First seen here.

Shower

Unfortunately I had my mouth full of milk when I saw this shot for the first time last Friday. First seen here.

The funniest job in the world

What do you do for a living? I get under Marilyn's skirts to touch up a bit.... This is the new Marilyn Monroe statue constructed in Chicago. First seen here.

Batman and Robin

Whoever improved this traffic sign so expertly has a great sense of humour - as well as excellent echnique. Made me smile. First seen here.

Chemistry bed

Now that's a geeky yet great looking bed. Its shape is inspired by chemical molecules or crystal structures, and the end result is marvelous. I want one! First seen here.

Jaguar car sculpture

Mixed nut alert - artist variation. This sculpture, recently unveiled at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of Jaguar E-Type is bad enough by itself, but to put it smack in front of this stately manor adds insult to injury. First seen here.

Y'all move to Texas!

Thought provoking for sure. The premise behind this graph is simple and eye opening: construct one super city to hold every single human on the planet, taking population densities of existing cities as guide line. Simple calculations show that using New York City as an example, we could house the entire population of our planet in Texas. First seen here.

Opera Puffs

Granted, they were different times, and in the thirties (I'd guess that's when this one was published), smoking was socially accepted and medically fine. Still, the best slogan you can come up with for your brand is "they will not stick to the lips"??? First seen here.

Hi there lovely!

I have put the link to this site in my main blog today as well, but here we have a delightful shot out of a large collection of quirky wildlife pictures by Joanne Williams. First seen here.

Mail order bride

Here is another one of those lovely scenes created by Terry Border from food, toys and bent office supplies. First seen here.

Ursus beer

What? It's just three bottles of beer. What did you think it was? Whether it really helps selling this brand is another matter though.... First seen here.

Bar(t)bies

A new line of Barbie dolls, their dresses surprisingly based on famous paintings. I especially like the van Gogh creation. First seen here.

Toast(er)

Amazing, creative, impressive, but ultimately a waste of time and food: creating a mosaic of a toaster with 3053 pieces of toast.... First seen here.

Oreo cameos

Can I eat that? Yes, but it would upset the artist Judith G. Klausner, who spent quite some time to carve these cameos from Oreo cookies. A weird choice of material, as she has to keep the creations in her fridge or see them decay. First seen here.

Basset on Epo

Take care - this basset hound looks clearly doped to me. Wonderful shot of a wonderful dog. First seen here.

Alice in Wonderland shoes

I have said it before and I will say it again: the largest collection of mixed nuts can be found amongst shoe designers. Another brilliant example, these bizarre Alice in Wonderland shoes designed by Nicholas Kirkwood for Printemps. First seen here.

Living portraits

You may have seen something similar on optical illusions sites: Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a 16th century Italian artist, painted similar imaginative portraits made entirely from fruits, vegetables and flowers. However, these are by Klaus Enrique Gerdes, a New York City photographer, who has created a series of similar portraits made exclusively from natural ingredients. As an achievement, I rate this even higher, as you do not have the advantage of artistic liberty and are stuck with what nature is supplying in terms of shapes and colours. First seen here.

Smurfette in Harper's Bazaar

Or should that be Harper's Bizarre? The new centre point of a fashion shoot in this esteemed magazine is not a supermodel or actress, but Smurfette. One suspects that the producers of the upcoming Smurfs movie are behind this. She does look cute though. First seen here.
