Who owns copyright of a monkey's selfie?

Mixed Nuts would have been a possible category as well. Photographer David Slater had his camera stolen in Indonesia by a crested black macaque. When he retrieved the camera, he found that the monkey had taken numerous selfies, some of astonishing quality. They went viral, and now he is suing Wikipedia for using them without his permission - whereas Wikipedia understandably refuses to acknowledge that Slater has any rights to them because he did not take them. To be continued. First seen here.
