Eyes wide shut

This is such a weird image until it is explained. No, this is not photoshopped to have the boys eyes closed on the left and open in the mirror. A modern digital camera takes pictures by scanning from one side of the frame to the other (or top to bottom, depending on how you hold the camera). When objects move faster than the scanner, you get what is called the rolling shutter effect. First seen here.
